GRAP Stage Today in Delhi-NCR: What’s Banned Right Now
The current GRAP stage today, what it means for your car, school, office and construction work, and a quick checker for any AQI number. Based on CAQM’s latest GRAP schedule, revised on 29 September 2026.
GRAP stages today explained (revised schedule, September 2026)
Each stage adds to the ones below it. So at Stage III, every Stage I and Stage II rule also applies.
- No PUC, no fuel: vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control certificate can be refused petrol or diesel, with ANPR cameras at fuel pumps.
- Interstate buses: only electric, CNG or BS-VI diesel buses from other states can enter Delhi (moved up from Stage II in 2026).
- Diesel generators: not allowed as a regular power source. Only gas, dual-fuel or emission-controlled sets, and emergency services, can run them.
- Construction sites of 500 sq m or more must be registered on the dust-monitoring portal. Dust control is compulsory.
- Open burning of waste and leaves is banned. Coal and firewood in hotel and dhaba tandoors are banned.
- Overage vehicles (10-year diesel, 15-year petrol) are impounded. Visibly polluting vehicles are fined.
- Parking fees go up to discourage private cars.
- Staggered office timings for government and municipal offices in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar.
- Daily mechanised sweeping and water sprinkling on major roads. Targeted action at pollution hotspots.
- RWAs must give electric heaters to guards and other staff, so they don’t burn wood or waste.
- BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel cars banned in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar (exemption for vehicles adapted for persons with disabilities).
- Construction and demolition banned across NCR: earthwork, piling, demolition, brickwork, cement and plaster work, painting, tile cutting and road construction. Railways, metro, airports, hospitals, defence, highways and other public-interest projects are exempt.
- Schools: classes up to Class V move to hybrid mode in Delhi and the four nearby districts. Parents can choose online.
- Offices: states may run government, municipal and private offices at 50% strength, with the rest working from home.
- Stone crushers and mining shut across NCR. BS-IV and older diesel light and medium goods vehicles from outside Delhi can’t enter.
- Trucks: no entry into Delhi for heavy goods vehicles, except LNG, CNG, electric and BS-VI diesel trucks. Delhi-registered BS-IV and older diesel trucks are banned too.
- Construction ban widens to highways, flyovers, pipelines and other linear public projects.
- Schools: classes VI to IX and XI also move to hybrid mode.
- Emergency options for states: closing colleges, closing non-emergency commercial activity and running odd-even for cars.

What to do on high-AQI days
- Check the AQI before stepping out. Avoid outdoor exercise when it’s above 300, especially early morning and late evening.
- Children, older people, pregnant women and anyone with asthma or heart conditions should stay indoors as far as possible at Stage IV. Wear an N95 mask if you must go out.
- Keep your car’s PUC valid, don’t idle at red lights, and use the Metro or carpool where you can.
- Report garbage burning, dust and polluting vehicles on the Green Delhi or SAMEER app.
- Indoors, keep windows shut and use a HEPA air purifier sized for your room. Our air purifier guide and size calculator shows how much CADR you need.
