1. LPG cylinder prices on 1 November

The first of the new rules from 1 November 2026 that touches every kitchen is the monthly LPG price revision. Oil marketing companies review LPG prices on the first day of every month. On 1 October 2026, the 19 kg commercial cylinder went up by ₹62 to ₹70, while the 14.2 kg domestic cylinder stayed the same.

1 November update

Commercial 19 kg cylinders are now ₹2,820 in Delhi (up ₹10), with rises of ₹10.50 to ₹17 in the other metros. Domestic 14.2 kg cylinders are unchanged at ₹942 in Delhi.

CityDomestic 14.2 kg (from 1 Nov)Commercial 19 kg (from 1 Nov)
Delhi₹942.00₹2,820.00
Mumbai₹941.50₹2,775.00
Kolkata₹968.00₹2,971.00
Chennai₹957.50₹2,994.50

2. Pension life certificate last date 2026: 1 to 30 November

Central government pensioners, and most pensioners paid through a bank, must submit a life certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) every year to keep their pension coming.

  • Aged 80 and above: window open since 1 October, closes 30 November.
  • Below 80: from 1 November to 30 November.
  • EPS-95 (EPFO) pensioners: no November deadline. Your certificate is valid for 12 months from the day you submit it.

You can submit for free with face authentication on an Android phone, at your bank branch, or through India Post’s doorstep service. Our Jeevan Pramaan 2026 guide walks through each method step by step.

3. SGB premature redemption in November 2026: exit windows

You can redeem a Sovereign Gold Bond with RBI before maturity once five years have passed since it was issued, but only on interest dates. You apply through your bank, post office or broker during a request window that closes about 10 days before the redemption date.

The price is the average IBJA closing price of 999 gold over the three business days before redemption. For 2021-22 Series VII, redeemed on 2 November 2026, RBI set it at ₹14,167 per unit, roughly three times its ₹4,761 issue price.

💡 Gains are tax-free when RBI redeems your bond, whether early or at maturity. If you sell on the stock exchange instead, long-term capital gains tax of 12.5% applies. Redeeming early also means giving up the remaining 2.5% yearly interest. Gold at record highs is a good reason to review your bonds, but not on its own a reason to sell. Use our SGB premature redemption calculator to see what your series is worth and whether to redeem or hold.

4. ITR deadline for audit cases: 21 November

CBDT extended the deadline for taxpayers whose accounts need a tax audit (mostly businesses and professionals above the audit limits). Their tax audit reports were due by 21 October, and their income tax returns for AY 2026-27 are now due by 21 November 2026.

This doesn’t extend anything for salaried people. If you missed your original deadline, you can still file a belated return until 31 December 2026, with a late fee of up to ₹5,000 (₹1,000 if your income is up to ₹5 lakh), plus interest on any tax due.

5. GST changes from 1 November (mostly for businesses)

The GST Council met on 8 October 2026 and focused on compliance rather than tax rates. The changes that take effect from 1 November mainly help businesses:

  • Faster refunds: the time to acknowledge a refund claim drops from 15 to 10 days, with 90% provisional refunds for eligible inverted-duty and zero-rated claims.
  • Businesses with an inverted duty structure can claim refunds on credit for input services availed from 1 November, subject to the legal changes being notified.
  • Draft versions of new return forms (GSTR-1, GSTR-1A) are open for public comments until 30 November, ahead of a planned 1 April 2027 launch.
  • Bigger changes, such as removing GST arrest powers and raising the prosecution limit to ₹5 crore, need a change in the law and are targeted for 1 April 2027.

For shoppers, the GST part of the new rules from 1 November 2026 changes nothing: GST rates on what you buy stay the same.

6. Small savings rates: unchanged until December

The government kept small savings rates the same for October–December 2026, the ninth quarter in a row. The next review is due at the end of December.

7. Festivals and holidays in November

Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November, so many states close banks on Monday, 9 November for Govardhan Puja instead, and some on 11 November for Bhai Dooj. Chhath Puja is on 15–16 November and Guru Nanak Jayanti on Tuesday, 24 November. Bank holidays vary by state, so check our 2026 holiday list before planning a branch visit, and use the gold rate today page if you’re buying for Dhanteras.
