Jio IPO GMP today
The grey market premium (GMP) is the extra price unofficial dealers are paying for Jio shares before listing. It has climbed steadily since the price band was announced.
Based on figures reported by IPO tracking sites; the lowest reading so far was about ₹85. On 27 Oct, the day before listing, the GMP was about ₹245, pointing to a listing price of about ₹1,364, roughly 22% above the issue price. The actual listing on 28 Oct was ₹1,358 (+21.36%), very close to that estimate.
Subscription status: Day 1 (21 Oct, end of day): about 3.0 times overall · QIB 9.04x · NII 1.61x · retail about 0.7x · RIL shareholders 1.41x · employees 1.33x. Big institutions led the demand; the retail portion was not yet fully booked on day 1. Day 2 (22 Oct, end of day): about 5.40 times overall · QIB 12.87x · NII 5.67x · retail 1.55x · RIL shareholders 3.92x · employees 2.05x. Day 3 (23 Oct, final): about 22.19 times overall · QIB 70.55x · NII 14.00x (big HNI 15.89x, small HNI 10.22x) · retail 2.72x · RIL shareholders 7.60x · employees 2.93x. Institutions drove a late surge on the final day, while retail ended at under 3 times, so retail applicants have a fair chance at one lot. Allotment was finalised on 26 Oct; refunds and demat credits are due on 27 Oct, and listing is on 28 Oct. Listing (28 Oct): Jio Platforms listed at ₹1,358 on both NSE and BSE, ₹239 (21.36%) above the ₹1,119 issue price, a gain of ₹2,868 per 12-share lot and close to the last GMP of about ₹245. How to apply for the Jio IPO (UPI or net banking)
Through your trading app (Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, Angel One and others)
- Open the IPO section in your app on or after Wednesday 21 Oct and pick Jio Platforms.
- Choose your category. If you held Reliance Industries shares on 14 Oct, you will see a shareholder option. You can place a retail bid as well.
- Enter lots and tick “cut-off price”. This means you agree to pay whatever the final price is (at most ₹1,119), so your bid is never rejected for being too low.
- Enter your UPI ID and submit.
- Approve the mandate in your UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or your bank app). Without this step your bid is not counted. The money stays in your account, only blocked.
Through net banking (ASBA)
Log in to your bank, open the IPO or ASBA section, choose Jio Platforms, and bid with your demat details. The bank blocks the amount directly. This works well if your UPI limit is lower than your bid.
Should you apply? The case for and against
Jio is India’s largest telecom company and earns a profit every quarter. In the year to March 2026 it made ₹1,46,885 crore in revenue and ₹30,049 crore in profit, both up about 15% from the year before. At ₹10.3 lakh crore, the IPO prices Jio at about 34 times last year’s profit.
Reasons people are applying
- Market leader with steady profit growth
- Strong grey market demand, which usually means a good listing
- Fresh money mainly pays off debt, which can lift future profit
- Reliance shareholders get a separate quota with less competition
Things to weigh
- Not cheap at about 34 times earnings
- Growth depends on mobile tariff hikes, which need government and market support
- Very large issue: lots of supply can cap listing-day gains
- GMP can fall quickly if the wider market drops
For listing gains, the odds look good based on current demand. For long-term holding, Jio is a large, steady business, but most of its known growth is already in the price. We are not financial advisers; read the company’s red herring prospectus on the SEBI website before you invest.
How to check Jio IPO allotment status (26 Oct)
- Go to the KFin Technologies IPO status page (ipostatus.kfintech.com) and pick Jio Platforms.
- Enter your PAN, application number or demat account number.
- Or check on the BSE or NSE IPO allotment pages, or in your trading app’s IPO section.
Allotment usually shows up on the evening of 26 Oct. If you didn’t get shares, the blocked money is released by 27 Oct. If you did, shares show in your demat account on 27 Oct and you can sell from 10 AM on listing day, 28 Oct.
Jio IPO FAQs
What is the Jio IPO lot size and minimum amount?
One lot is 12 shares. At the upper price of ₹1,119, the minimum is ₹13,428. Retail investors can bid for up to 14 lots, or ₹1,87,992.
What is the Jio IPO GMP today?
The grey market premium was about ₹245 on 27 October 2026, pointing to a listing price near ₹1,364. GMP is unofficial and changes daily, so use the calculator above to test different numbers.
When is the Jio IPO listing date?
Jio Platforms listed on NSE and BSE on Wednesday 28 October 2026 at ₹1,358 per share on both exchanges, a listing gain of ₹239 (21.36%) over the ₹1,119 issue price, or ₹2,868 per lot. Allotment was on 26 October and refunds on 27 October.
Can Reliance shareholders apply in both the shareholder and retail categories?
Yes. If you held Reliance Industries shares on the record date (14 October 2026), you can bid in the shareholder quota (up to ₹2 lakh) and also make a separate retail bid. Each is a separate lottery, so it improves your overall chance. Confirm the exact rules in the prospectus.
Does applying for more lots improve my allotment chances?
Not in the retail category. When retail is oversubscribed, each winning applicant gets one lot by lottery, whatever the size of their bid. More separate applications (from different PANs) help; bigger single bids do not.
How are listing gains from the Jio IPO taxed?
If you sell within 12 months, the profit is short-term capital gain, taxed at 20%. After 12 months, it is long-term capital gain: 12.5% on gains above ₹1.25 lakh a year across all your shares and equity funds.
What does “cut-off price” mean?
It means you agree to buy at the final price the company sets, which will be between ₹1,065 and ₹1,119. Retail investors should tick it so the bid isn’t rejected. The full amount at ₹1,119 is blocked, and any extra is released if the final price is lower.
